The CHP CHAMPIONS mission is to support education, physical development andthe well-being of today's youth by offering them the opportunity to develop as whole individuals.
Thank you for teaching our CHAMPIONS about principles and techniques designed to improve gross motor skills, flexibility, posture, strength, balance and coordination.
CHAMPIONS is a prevention-driven health and wellness program delivered to the public school student population, grades K-8.
Community partnerships are critical to the success of this program. Help us promote and encourage ongoing lifestyle behaviors for kids, including regular daily activity and healthy life choices.
Every day, I wake up grateful to be a part of these kids’ growth and development. When a kid is able to do a push up for the first time in their life, when a kid with asthma can run a whole lap and asks me to do another, when I watch my coaches bond with students and develop trust and a sense of camaraderie with the kids – this is why I come to school. I come to a school to teach, to grow, to explore and to have fun with students and I am grateful for a job that I do not call work.
We couldn’t be more pleased with the CHP CHAMPIONS program and the results it has had on our local students. It has truly made a difference in the lives of children throughout Leon County.
My hope is that the benefits of the CHAMPIONS program can be replicated across our state. By reshaping environments and encouraging kids to be active, we stand the best chance of improving unhealthy weight in Florida, both now and in the future.
Ten years ago, we saw that the CHAMPIONS program was different in its approach to the health and well-being of public school students. We were confident in CHAMPIONS a decade ago, and we’re even more confident in the program’s possibilities today.
