Programs

CHAMPIONS is a prevention-driven health and wellness program delivered to the public school student population, grades K-8. This comprehensive program is based on principles and techniques designed to improve gross motor skills, flexibility, posture, strength, balance and coordination using a long-term physical development approach to fitness and nutrition. Modeled after collaborative, community-based wellness initiatives, our mission is to bend this trend by encouraging a lifestyle of regular physical activity and healthy choices.

The CHAMPIONS program supports education, physical development and well-being of youth by offering in, after and before school fitness for K-8th grade students. CHAMPIONS supplements P.E. curriculum with lessons that employ body weight exercises, small-sided tactical themed game play, positive character development and nutrition education. In 10 years we have served over 100,000 K-8 youth. Through community partnership with Capital Health Plan CHAMPIONS operates within the school day in Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Wakulla, Calhoun and Liberty counties of Florida. CHAMPIONS have eliminated obesity in 9% of overweight children served last year. A Florida Surgeon General’s Report, states this achievement has saved Florida an estimated $3 million in health care costs. CHAMPIONS have also enhanced students’ life skills and self-regulatory behaviors. CHAMPION’s youth displayed a drop in juvenile arrests in the 6 counties we serve, far greater than nearby counties without the program.

The CHAMPIONS All Program

The goal of the CHAMPIONS All program is to improve the five physical qualities of students with cognitive, physical and emotional special needs. Our overlying focus is to increase the everyday quality of each student’s life.

CHAMPIONS All employs exercise variations within CHAMPIONS workouts to challenge and meet the needs of all students we work with.
